Large storage, high expectations

When you need to cover three large silage clamps, you have choices to make. You could combine everything with one rail system with 3 interchangeable rolls, but that means you can only feed from one silo at a time and have to switch systems during ensiling. Dronkelaar didn’t want that. Being able to feed from two silos at the same time, without one system blocking the other: that was the starting point. Simplicity in farm management, maximum freedom when it counts.

A tailor-made system, from bottom to top

We installed three fixed rail systems, each tailored to a silo measuring 12 x 60 x 2.5 metres. To compensate for any possible settling of the walls, each machine has a built-in width correction of up to 8 centimetres — so the system always keeps fitting, even if the concrete wall shifts slightly over the years.

A second adjustment is in the height. The machines can be set — via the remote control — to a working height of up to 2.25 metres above the wall, so the shovel can work freely during ensiling without colliding with the covering system. That saves not only hassle, but also damage and time.

To keep pressure on the covers, an underground system has been installed: glued pipes run to each silo, connected to an overflow with automatic level monitoring. The brine storage has a capacity of 38 metres. Enough for both covers simultaneously, while in practice one silo is always empty by winter.

Three systems, one goal: feed whenever it suits you

Three independent machines means no waiting, no planning around one system and no compromises in the feeding schedule.

What our customers say

Consistent quality for 1,200 dairy goats with smart forage storage

With 2,500 silage bales in our organic system, we needed a new storage solution. The lasagna pit saves both space and money — and ensures a consistent feed supply. The design was well thought out, which gave us confidence from the start.
